Photo Finish for PhilaU Students
"In the end, there could be only one: The thirty Philadelphia University students participating in a special spring program with textile studios Weitzner Limited presented their final wall covering projects to a panel of guest jurists at a special buffet dinner event held in Philadelphia. Narrowed to five teams, the graduate-and-undergraduate designers — all of them dressed to the nines — showed off products produced during a semester’s work. Each team was vying for the chance to have their team’s proposal selected for commercial distribution by Weitzner Limited."

Lori at Philadephia University
"In phase two of a semester-long collaboration, designer Lori Weitzner recently traveled to Philadelphia University’s College of Design, Engineering & Commerce to look over the initial wall covering and textile proposals presented by 30 participating graduate and undergraduate students. In phase one of the program, the group of industrial designers, fashion designers and business students had visited Weitzner’s studio and Pollack’s headquarters in New York."

"Lori is a marvel in the design world, and I have always admired both her amazing talent and her enthusiasm for design. I think that this merger will energize both of our studios, with their uniquely different styles, but with a common commitment to excellence. It is such a unique opportunity for all of us."

"The Pollack/Weitzner merger is a textbook example of the perfect business consolidation. We’ve taken two of the best brand names in the industry and added increased growth potential and the economies of scale. The merger provides product diversity and increased working capital for the consolidated company. It’s a “slam-dunk” winner in all respects – for our brands, our employees, our business partners and our clients."

September's Interior Design magazine showcases the new Nature collection with a national ad devoted to Eden. Formed by hand from recycled pulp composed of salago and mulberry tree fibers, Eden cuts a figure both graphic and organic. Like a garden, the large-scale open weave pattern suggests an organized chaos.

Weitzner Hits the Runway
Designer Dorothy Willetts incorporated two Weitzner wallcoverings, Newsworthy and Mist, into a whimsical dress design for the ASID Project Runway El Paseo 2010 Fashion Week in Palm Springs. Inspired by the work of artist Yoshimoto Nara, who infuses cute, pop imagery with adult themes, the design placed Willetts among the top five finalists. With its pillbox hat and veil, baby doll skirt and bright red pumps, the dress reflected "being childlike and grownup at the same time," Willetts says.

Weitzner's Nimbus nominated for Designpreis Deutschland 2010
Lori Weitzner’s award-winning Nimbus wall treatment has been nominated for the prestigious Designpreis Deutschland 2010 (Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany 2010), the highest official design award given in Germany.
Awarded by the Federal Minister for Economics and Technology and organized by the German Design Council (Rat fur Formgebung), it is not possible to simply submit a product for consideration for Designpreis Deutschland. Rather, products must be nominated by the Ministries and Senators of the Federal States or by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology, and must already have won a national or international award; for this reason the competition is often know as the Prize of Prizes.
Made from sustainably harvested tree bark, Nimbus is a handmade, organic open web that draws its texture directly from the South American fig tree from which it is made, its fretwork aesthetic allowing light to pass through, accentuating the interplay between light and shadow. The recyclable and biodegradable product can be used as a wallcovering, decorative divider, or even as a piece of art.
Nimbus is available to design professionals from Weitzner Limited through showrooms nationwide. Please refer to our showroom listings for local availability.

Weitzner Limited's Nimbus Wins on the Runway
Lori Weitzner has once again been a part of a winning collaboration. Lori’s trademark sophistication and elegance met with that of interior designer Dorothy Willetts last month to create the winning dress at Club Cambria’s ASID Project Runway show at the El Paseo 2009 Fashion Week in Palm Springs.
Willetts used Weitzner’s hand-woven Nimbus to create the delicate cuffs and dramatic collar for her Erte-inspired Art Deco dress. The web-like accents were married to fabric from the Tony Duquette collection for Jim Thompson.
This sensational dress was not only a hit at the show, but further proved the versatility of Weitzner’s innovative product.
